Elizabeth Berger entered the doctoral program in Finance in the Fall of 2010. Elizabeth's academic research focuses on empirical corporate finance, causal inference, product market competition, and institutional investors. Prior to joining the PhD program, she received her undergraduate degrees as a Dean's Honor Scholar from Tulane University in Economics and Vocal Performance. She wrote her honors thesis on the economic viability of symphony orchestras in the United States, earning departmental and university awards for her research. Thereafter, Elizabeth held positions at Western Southern Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati, Ohio and Citigroup Smith Barney in New Orleans, LA. At Smith Barney she earned her Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist designation and her work involved corporate 401k plan design, implementation, and management. .
